Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Phone: (760) 791-7922

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for over 20 years, Christi Chaffee understands that though people seek therapy for a variety of reasons, the common thread is a desire for change: of feelings, circumstances, relationships, transitions, or simply issues which all of us grapple with at some point in life.

Christi believes that a primary goal of therapy is to integrate mind, body, emotions and behaviors. Her approach is one of collaboration rather than treatment. She assists clients in clarifying objectives and gaining awareness, helping them to recognize their strengths and modify unhealthy, unproductive or self-defeating patterns that hinder them from living fully. Dedicated to helping people through this process, Christi offers a safe and supportive environment where clients can change and heal by working through issues to resolve inner and interpersonal conflict. Clients often report experiencing a sense of relief and clearer focus, leading to a more integrated and authentic life. Christi’s clinical experience has included working with individuals, couples, families and groups. Having worked with many people in various circumstances, she brings much experience and compassion to her work. She has provided assistance to people whose lives have been affected by abuse, crime, mental illness, addiction, childhood trauma, significant life transitions, and generational patterns of dysfunction.

Her early training included Santa Monica Counseling Center, the Rape Crisis Center at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, and adolescents in residential treatment in Malibu, CA. Since then, she has worked in private practice, clinics, hospitals, community counseling, dual diagnosis treatment programs, and also the California Victim-Witness program. Through these diverse experiences, Christi developed a particular interest in treating trauma using mind/body approaches; she is currently completing advanced level training with Steve Hoskinson to become a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.

A widely experienced facilitator of personal growth and change, Christi provides guidance and support for clients to grow and thrive through difficult experiences and transitions. She is committed to helping clients discover and develop greater trust in themselves, and in their inherent ability to navigate challenges and pursue healthy pleasure and purpose in their lives.
